My Addons

This section is for all the addons for Vga Planets that I have made. All of these should work on Dos/Win98, and most, or all, should be able to be used on win2k systems. If you find one that doesn't, and take the time to email me, I can try another compiling the program specifically set for win32. Most of these could compile on linux systems, not sure about bsd or sun? All of the ones I tried seemed to compile correctly on debian. I do not have a secondary computer to install and make different compilings for each linux variety.

The VGA Planets Toolkit

The VGA Planets Toolkit was created and released to public use by Roger Burton West.

I have updated it a few times to try to keep it up to date with the current host. Adding handling for 1000 UFOs and just recently the FF friendly codes. I have gotten it to compile with djgpp, mingw32 and on linux with gcc. I am placing it here with my addons so anyone can get the most recent version.

Tactical VCR 2

Tactical VCR 2 is a mass combat system, which uses specific tactics, speeds and primary target sets for each ship. By using varying tactics fleets will be better able to engage the enemy in battle and survive. Ships are no longer be required to go in and slug it out at point blank range until they are dead.

Tactical VCR 2 has many improvements from the first version. Among these are a graphical interface, simulator to test tactics, and a large configuration system. The simulator is currently in open testing to determine if it is creating battles properly, and to see what needs to be updated or enhanced in the interface.

Fullscreen works much better than windowed mode on slower computers. Even greater speed can be acheived by turning the graphics delays down to 0. Sounds are still not what I would like them to be, but I haven't found much better ones yet. I hope to replace them once I do.

Tactical VCR Has its own page... Tactical VCR 2

Admiral Cplayer

Admiral is a computer player program designed for flexibility. To achieve the best amount of flexibility Admiral was designed to use external variable settings. Each Admiral has 31 settings for ship building and deployment, and each of the 25 tactical packages has 36 settings, determining starbase, ship and planetary tactics.

Primary File Pack (Needed) Latest EXE File

Autoname

Autoname simply names all the ships that don't have names. This is very similiar to the code I use for Admiral to name the ships. (Host Addon)

Autoname

EControl

EControl is my first decent attempt at a utility to build factories, mines, defenses and tax colonists and natives. It is currently still a work in progress, but appears to work decently for most races. Any input on this is welcome.

Econtrol

Fallout

Fallout is a small addon for use with VGAP 3.x. Fallout calculates radiation and its effects on clans and natives. Two new Fcodes are introduced to allow bombardment and flushing of radiation at planets. Source is no long available so I cannot recompile this one.

Fallout

Homeworld

Home World operates very simply. If the home world is captured from the original owner of the home world, some of the original owner's planets and ship may join the new owner. If the original owner of the home world recaptures it from an invader, some of the invader's planets may join the original owner. If the home world is destroyed, but not occupied, as when you capture the Crystals 100 temp home world, the effects are halved.

Home World

Host One Ally

Honeally (Host One Ally) was made to prevent super alliances from ruining games. Currently too many games seem to come down to large alliances which then end in stalemates because it gets time consuming to coordinate efforts. This program allows only one ally to be set at a time, any attempt to add an extra ally will be blocked, however, you can still break an alliance and form a new one.

Maintain

Ships require maintenance.

Map Draw

A simple program to draw out Vga Planets maps.

Map Draw

Maptotxt

A simple program that lists out the xyplan.dat file into a text file.

Maptotxt

MineUP

A simple program that does an additional no damage minesweep at the end of the turn to make certain that you get proper minefield information. This was made for use with Orbiter as minesweep comes before the actual rotation of the map.

MineUP

Nuscore

nuscore - Since the disappearance of the author of uscore no one was able to get the reg code so I wrote up this clone so people can use the uscore system again. I am not sure if the weighting system was in the original, but I saw that somewhere and no one really objected to it. I didn't make any graphics output since there were several objections to that.

Like uscore this program needs you to run host.exe to generate score.log, ton.exe to generate tons.log, vgascore (v2.2) to generate the vgascore.blt, and Ptscore (v1.3) to generate the PtScore.log. Host and tons are included with the Vga Planets host files, and the other two are available in some of the Vga Planets addons sites.

Nuscore

Orbiter

Orbiter rotates the map every turn. This is still semi experimental, while the program works flawlessly, the amount of maximum rotation is still being tested. This version has a 9 degree maximum rotation at the center of the cluster and 1 degree minimum on the outer edge. This may change as more games are played. Using MineUp with oribiter is suggested to get proper minefield sizes and locations.

Orbiter

Randname

Randname is a client end ship naming utility. To use it you simply put a list with the names of the ship you want to use into the game directory and before you use maketurn run randname on the directory to randomly name your ships from the list. Two ship lists are included, however, making a new list is as simple as typing one name per line into a text file.

Relic Wars

Many clusters of debris are floating around the map, they can contain almost anything, from minerals and ship systems to fighters and torpedos. Some will also contain powerful relics.

You must intercept and tow the debris with ships or build a pulsed tractor beam device on a planet to collect the debris, before you can salvage it.

Successful salvaging of debris will tell you what you discovered, and unsuccessful salvaging may mean you lose some systems, minerals, or even lose a relic.

Many types of relics exist. They range from computer viruses that cause ships, planets and bases to do strange things, to viruses that may affect populations, to high powered explosive devices capable of destroying or damaging anything within the blast radius.

Relic Wars

Swarms

Swarms?

Yes, space faring bugs and hives.

Swarms is the 1st use of the 1000 UFO record potential, built into the Host program for Vga Planets. Swarms has many hives and bugs flying around your cluster, scavenging clans, fighting ships, and generally cause problems for the players. Swarms is best played with WINPLAN as you can see the hives and bugs displayed, however, the Fcodes will work with DOSPLAN, and you will be able to see where the swarms are as they scavenge through your area.

Tactical VCR v1.x

Tactical VCR is a mass combat system, which uses specific tactics, speeds and primary target sets for each ship. By using varying tactics fleets will be better able to engage the enemy in battle and survive. Ships are no longer be required to go in and slug it out at point blank range until they are dead.

*** NOTE *** The win32 version does actually work, however, due to some compiler problem there is no backup drawpage allocated so tactview.exe ends up drawing everything to the screen very slowly. The dos viewer is highly recommended if you can use it.

Terraformer

T_FORMER speeds the terraforming of planets. For every three turns that a planet is being terraformed an additional degree of temperature change is gained per ship. If a ship leaves a planet and then comes back the sequence starts over. Default is 3.

Terraformer

Tourngen

Tourngen is a simple campaign creation utility that allows a host to create a map with 11 cone or wedge shaped arms and a central core. Each arm will contain the exact same amount of minerals and natives, however, they will not be on the exact same planets. Each race will also be allocated a standard base and the homeworld extraction rates match the normal ones set by master. Using the settings in the INI file you can easily change the size and number of stars in each arm as well as minerals and natives levels.

TournGen

Tvcrhtml

Tvcrhtml creates ship list tables in html format with css for coloring. This allows for quick coloring of any lists generated. Tvcrhtml works on any ship list and will produce data for normal vcr.exe games and Tactical VCR 2 games. The pictures provided are the one mostly created by bane, which are used in Tactical VCR 2. They can easily be replace by any other gif with the proper index. You will need to read the tiny text file to see how to generate the lists.

Universe

Universe is a simple utility to give players and idea of what the mineral and native content of the universe are.
